TLC Celebrates Father’s Day

This Father’s Day, The Latino Coalition is proud to highlight the fathers serving on our Board of Directors.
Throughout this series, we will spotlight three leaders whose dedication to family, leadership, and service reflects the values that strengthen our communities.
Fatherhood plays a vital role in shaping future generations, and these leaders exemplify the commitment, guidance, and responsibility that defines that role.
Over the coming days, each Board Member will share reflections on what being a father means to them.
Stay tuned as we celebrate leadership, family, and fatherhood.

“Although I was not a conventional father as I lived in Dallas, while my daughter Sophia lived in New York City, I did my best to remain a significant part of her life. Throughout her childhood, I was flying to and from NYC to see her, I would often pick her up at the airport and bring her to Texas so she could spend time with me and with her Texas family. When I would fly her back, often I would fly the next flight back to Dallas. Today, Sophia is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she earned honors from the Newhouse School of Public Communications. She is a Senior Project Manager for a global marketing company called Leeds and lives on her own right by Little Italy in NYC.
As for a quote I would offer someone on Father’s Day, this is my favorite:
“In life, you are given three names: one is the name you are born with, which is your last name, then you are given, which is your first name and third and most important name is the one you make for yourself.”
-Marcos Duron.

“Fatherhood has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Watching my daughter Isabella graduate from USC last year and begin her career reminds me that being a good dad means providing love, guidance, encouragement, and the confidence for your children to pursue their own path.”
-Jaime Rojas Jr.

Throughout this Father’s Day campaign, we have highlighted three Board Members who shared their perspectives on fatherhood, reflections grounded in leadership, family, and purpose.
Their words underscore the importance of fathers as mentors, role models, and pillars within their families and communities.
The Latino Coalition celebrates their commitment both at home and in their service to others.
Happy Father’s Day to all who lead, guide, and inspire the next generation. The work continues.
