WASHINGTON, Dec. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Latino Coalition (TLC) released the following statement today on the passing of former President George H.W. Bush:
"Our nation mourns the loss of an exemplary statesman in President George H.W. Bush. Always to be remembered as a special servant leader and committed patriot, Bush 41 was like no other— a heroic Navy officer in World War II, a pragmatic Congressman, an effective Director of Central Intelligence and an extraordinary Commander in Chief.
"However, I witnessed his compassion and dedication personally; Bush was a close friend of my father and frequently sought his advice as he worked to grow the representation of Hispanics in leadership positions. He was a historic Chief Executive— investing in Latino leadership and empowerment, appointing two Hispanics to his Cabinet, developing a robust trade relationship with Mexico and supporting the creation and growth of Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S.
"We extend our sincerest sympathy to the Bush Family and join them in mourning the loss of a selfless man and a true American hero," said TLC Chairman and former U.S. Small Business Administrator, Hector Barreto.
